Whew, Kelli has only been harassing me for this since about Sunday after her wedding I did make her wait and thanks to some other events, this wasn’t up as early as I had hoped. I’m sure she’s been refreshing the page non-stop all day. Right? Hi Kelli!
Brandon and Kelli’s wedding was a lot of fun! I got to work with Cynthia for makeup which is one of my favorite things (that and putting her in slideshows and albums) and also got to see Shannon and Matt! Remember, they were the very FIRST couple to book me for their wedding, so they’ll always hold a special place in my life and we’re totally going to set up our husbands on a man-date. But back to this whole thing, Brandon is a ham. End of story, which made for some hilarious wedding photos, but we also got some very lovely ones as well. We started the day off at Cantigny and then moved onto the Abbington! I love them all! I really do! So enough talking about their wedding and onto the photos!
Oh Matt and Erika’s wedding was fun to say the least! With 2 of my other clients in the wedding party, we had a blast!! There were ups, there were downs but in the end everyone had a blast! Matt and Erika were champs the entire day! During the ceremony, one of their groomsman passed out and had to be taken to the ER to make sure he didn’t have a concussion. Thankfully, there were a few medical professionals at the wedding to help and make sure he was fine while the ambulance arrived! He returned for the reception at the Abbington though and he was fine! I had so much fun at their wedding and I know they’re really really really exited to see these pictures!! I’m sure they didn’t want to work today anyway…
Soledad and Kurt are getting married at the end of the month, which means that their wedding fast approaching! I’m very excited to capture their wedding day but we also squeezed in their engagement shoot. We shot at Cantigny, which you know I just love, and the grounds were pretty spectacular that weekend (the grounds change quite often). We did get eaten by mosquitoes but it was totally worth it. I love me some sunsety light which I love about Soledad’s and Kurt’s images!
Heidi and Jon were married at the chapel at Naper Settlement and being back in Naperville was like going home, most things hadn’t changed since I had left 3 years ago, but it was fun being back and seeing what was still there! They had their reception at Danada House and it was amazing! I love that space and the grounds as well, just a wonderful location for a wedding reception or even a ceremony on site! It was possibly the best food I’ve had all year too! Heidi and Jon were a lot of fun to work with and they pretty much left everything to me and allowed a lot of time for portraits and they even got a few appetizers during that time too! It was a hot day, but everyone braved it out! I was working with some of my favorite vendors, Kristen from Kio Kreations, Don from XL Entertainment and Aubrey from Ladi Events!
Anna and Ethan are more like friends than clients. We talked about our crazy dogs and training issues, food issues and pretty much anything else. We laughed about everything and I’m not sure that surly IT guy ever came up when I was around on their wedding day! I did have to convince them into their first dance and I hope they eventually thank me for it. Anna and Ethan are not people who love the spotlight but I think they handled it quite well despite any issues like having to sew in a bustle in the middle of the reception!
Their day went off without a hitch and it was great to work with Emmett from Logi Productions and we had a good time. It’s often known that videographers and photographers don’t get along but I’ve been lucky and we had a lot of fun, I think I’ll be in their video dancing on the side of the room (don’t pay attention to me…). I’m sure that Anna and Ethan won’t even read this part until they’ve watched the slideshow a few times.
Kristen and I have been busy little bees working on a top secret project that we couldn’t spill the beans until today!! We were working on a concept that would reinvent the wedding industry for Elizabeth Anne Designs Weddings and The Sweetest Occasion, we had a very limited budget and spent many hours talking on the phone until the wee hours hashing out our idea. We’ve both seen our fair share of weddings so we knew we made a great team and thankfully Arrowhead Golf Club let us use their space for the photoshoot which is a lovely and wonderful place for your wedding!
We decided to do a lot of lacey, vintage-esque details and during the shoot were so excited and couldn’t wait until this day came and we could blog it! We made a LOT of the items ourselves. I was personally in charge of the guest book concept and I think I pinched a nerve in my thumb cutting out flowers for hours on end! We used frames as a main concept in our design and wanted fabric to play a fun part too. Our little details were that our menu was chosen as previous meals our fake couple had and the tables were significant to the couple, so table 2 stood for the 2 adorable pets they had together and so on, it was fun making up our fake couple We really took it to the next level though!
I love everything about this stuff and when we lit the candles and put it in a more romantic mood I wanted this as my own wedding again!! I love the lace details all over the place (and if you have leftover lace from your mom or grandma’s dresses, you can use that as your something old! How amazing would that be?!). And since that guestbook is just sitting in my house so I may be bribed to give it away! You thought I was just a wedding photographer didn’t you?
